The Connecticut Kokondo & Jukido Academy conducts formal classes at three dojos in CT, located in the Greater Hartford and New Haven areas.  With approximately sixty students, the CKJA enjoys its largest membership since the inception.  Sensei Scott Cohen is the chief instructor assisted by Sensei Robert Zysk at Big Sky Fitness, a brand new state of the art facility on the West Hartford – Newington town line.  Students of the karate and Jukido classes at Big Sky also benefit from full membership privialages to the gym at no additional cost.  Classes are open to novice students with no prior experience, as well as kyu (non-black belt) and dan (black belt) students from Sensei Cohen’s original Simsbury, CT dojo.

Quinnipiac University hosts Kokondo’s oldest operating martial arts club converted to an accredited class through the Physical Education Department.  In 1992, Sensei Cohen founded the Quinnipiac Kokondo Academy, a karate club for students, faculty, and staff, which ran until he graduated in 1995.  In 2000, Sensei Cohen was invited back to QU as an adjunct Professor of Phys. Ed.  Assisted by Mr. Darryl Yoerkie, Sensei Cohen teaches classes in the art of Jukido jujitsu in course PE 118.

Sensei Zysk applies a modified wrist containment (tate kote hineri) to Sensei Toropainen at a private training session in October 2000Sensei Robert Zysk is the chief instructor of the Bristol Eastern Kokondo Club at B.E. High School.  Mr. Zysk is also a Social Studies teacher and the longest active tennis coach in Connecticut.  He teaches students the fundamentals and advanced principles of Kokondo karate.

The CKJA continues to conduct seminars on Women’s Self-Defense, Non-Lethal Restraint, and private lessons, and has hosted many advanced training sessions at Sensei Cohen’s home dojo, with guests including Kokondo’s highest ranking instructors such as; Shihan P. Arel, Master R. Longo, Master G. Howard, Master S. Dunne, Sensei D. Cohen, Sensei R. Robert, Sensei J. Soltez, and Sensei V. Toropainen.
