Sensei Johanna Glazer

Sensei Johanna GlazerMs. Glazer began her Kokondo training with Sensei Daniel Cohen in September of 1990.  The senior student of the BKA, she currently holds the rank of Nidan (second degree black belt) in both Kokondo Karate and Jukido Jujitsu and has been a member of the Yudanshakai since 1993.  From 1994-1996, she was the Chief Instructor of Kokondo Karate at Brandeis University, and co-Chief Instructor of Jukido with Sensei Len Glazer. In 1995, Shihan Arel presented Ms. Glazer with a plaque of special recognition for her commitment and contributions to the Kokondo system.  She especially enjoys Bassai, Henka 4 and Kokonyo, as well as exchanging formal throws and surprise attacks with fellow dans at Brandeis.

Sensei Glazer has taught classes and seminars at Brandeis and other schools and colleges; at the Taunton, MA State Hospital; and at the Judge Connolly Youth Center.  She is the founder and Chief Instructor of the Concord-Carlisle Kokondo Academy. Ms. Glazer particularly enjoys teaching Women's self-defense seminars and working with techniques and issues relevant to women.  She has often seen the boost in self-confidence that Kokondo training brings to high school-aged girls and hopes to continue working with this age group.  Sensei Glazer is currently the highest ranked woman on the IKA's active list of Chief Instructors.

Outside the dojo, Ms. Glazer is a High School Social Studies teacher in Concord, MA.  A summa cum laude graduate of Brandeis University with a B.A. in History and Education, she also holds a Ms.Ed. with a focus on special education.  She is married to Sensei Len Glazer and is the proud parent of Joshua Alexander Glazer.
